About SetupSelect

SetupSelect was created by Benjamin Dickman to make product research more structured, transparent and useful.

Instead of starting with a long list of popular products, each SetupSelect builder starts with the buyer's actual constraints: budget, available space, intended use and the practical details that can make an otherwise good product a poor fit.

A software engineer who loves creating websites that make people's lives easier.

That is the principle behind Benjamin's independent projects. He enjoys turning complicated information and repetitive decisions into focused tools that give people a clearer next step.

SetupSelect applies that approach to shopping: ask the useful questions first, explain why each option was selected and help the visitor spend less time comparing unsuitable products.

About Benjamin Dickman

Benjamin is a senior software engineer with 13 years of professional experience building, improving and maintaining reliable business software.

He graduated with a First Class honours degree in Computer Science and has full-stack experience spanning .NET, API design, React, TypeScript, SQL Server and cloud infrastructure.

He is also a certified Umbraco Master, with training in application integration, security, extending the backoffice, search and indexing.

That combination of software engineering and structured content design shaped the way SetupSelect connects quiz answers, recommendation rules and editorial product data.

Why SetupSelect exists

Product roundups often start with products and work backwards to a reader. SetupSelect takes the opposite approach.

The builder records the reader's priorities first, maps those answers to explicit tags and constraints, and then compares eligible products within the relevant product categories.

SetupSelect is not a product-testing laboratory and does not claim hands-on testing where none has taken place. Products marked as researched have been selected from editorial research and structured comparison data.

Visitors should always confirm the current price, seller, specification, delivery and returns information on the retailer's page before buying.

How the site is funded

SetupSelect uses affiliate links. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. This does not change the price paid by the visitor. Affiliate relationships do not allow retailers to buy a higher recommendation score or bypass the matching rules.

Improving the recommendations

Product availability and specifications change. SetupSelect reviews its catalogue and scoring rules as information becomes available.

If you notice an incorrect specification, discontinued product or recommendation that does not fit its stated use case, please use the contact details on Benjamin's website to report it.
