What Pressure Washer Do I Need for a Patio?

For a small sound patio, a controllable machine around 110–135 bar with roughly 360L/h or more is a practical starting class. As the area and dirt load grow, prioritise higher flow, a longer hose and easy movement before chasing maximum pressure.

Measure before choosing

Estimate the paved area in square metres and measure the route from the outdoor tap. A five-metre hose may be enough for a compact patio; a larger or awkward layout can justify seven to ten metres.

Check that pointing, slabs and joints are sound before cleaning.

Pressure, flow and patio cleaners

A rotary patio attachment spreads jets within a shroud and may reduce splash on broad paving. It does not make every surface safe.

Water flow affects rinsing and working pace, while adjustable pressure gives useful control near joints, edges and weathered material.

Technique matters

Sweep loose debris first. Start with a gentle setting in an inconspicuous corner, keep the nozzle moving and avoid concentrating the jet on joints.

Follow the paving and washer manufacturers’ instructions; unsuitable pressure can dislodge jointing or mark softer stone.
