Dehumidifier running cost calculator

Enter the machine’s published wattage and your own electricity unit rate to estimate energy use and cost. Nothing here assumes the price on an Amazon listing is current.

The result will show hourly through annual estimates without adding a standing charge.

The calculation

Watts become kilowatt-hours

The tool divides watts by 1,000, multiplies by hours used, then applies the unit rate. Weekly use accounts for the number of days selected; monthly cost uses 52 weeks divided by 12. It is an energy estimate, not a forecast of a particular bill.

Cost = (watts ÷ 1,000) × hours × electricity rate

Useful answers

Running cost questions

How do I find my dehumidifier wattage?

Check the rating label, manual or manufacturer specification page. Use the normal dehumidifying input where several figures are shown, and remember that different fan or laundry modes can draw different power.

Will a dehumidifier use its full rated power all day?

Not necessarily. Many compressor models cycle the compressor off once the target humidity is reached, while the fan or sensor may continue. The calculator deliberately shows a simple upper-style estimate based on the hours you enter.

Does the calculation include the standing charge?

No. The standing charge applies whether or not the dehumidifier is running, so this tool only multiplies appliance energy by your electricity unit rate.
